Doctoral students in the discipline of biological sciences can find the group division, that is whether you belong to the molecular or enrivironmental group.

Scientific Conference “Science & Business – Common Challenges”

Introduction to didactics/Innovative didactic methods

Dear PhD Students,

Because of the instructor’s illness, the class on 13 May 2022 on Didactics is canceled (it refers to first-year doctoral students of all three doctoral schools). You will be notified of a rescheduled date for a make-up class.

Conference presentation workshop

Dear Doctoral Students,

a workshop on conference presentations  for PhD students will be conducted between 1 and 2 June 2022 by Prof. Dr. Christina Sanchez-Stockhammer. Description: In the international academic world, more and more conference papers are being given in English. This two-day workshop will assist you in the task and help you improve your presentation skills. It will cover the following aspects: 

  • Preparing a presentation (structure etc.) 
  • Giving a presentation (body language etc.) 
  • Things to consider in online presentations 
  • Particularities of PowerPoint slide design  
  • How to deal with typical problems in the context of a presentation 
  • Giving and receiving feedback. 

Most importantly, each participant will give a brief presentation during the course and receive feedback on their performance. 

About:  

Christina Sanchez-Stockhammer has been professor for English and digital linguistics at Chemnitz University of Technology since April 2021. Before that, she worked as a senior lecturer in English linguistics at LMU Munich and as a research and teaching assistant at the universities of Erlangen-Nuremberg and Augsburg. Additionally, she holds a "Soft-skill trainer certificate" and has been offering workshops on various topics as a freelance trainer for several years. 

The workshop will be conducted in English.
